Beyond concern for the memorials, students have also indicated there is speculation about a benefit concert set for this fall. Tech President Charles Steger has told the Chronicle of Higher Education that there is a desire to do something special for students when they return to campus next August.
However, despite rumors of big acts, such as Dave Matthews Band, which supposedly are to perform, Owczarski said the university has no definite plans at this point.
One source in the university administration said many music groups and entertainment acts have approached the university about performing a concert for the students. One of those receiving strongest consideration is Dave Matthews, said the source in administration.

i strongly believe that Dave will be doing something either this upcoming fall or next year for VT, either its Dave or D&T or the whole band, something will occur in the months to follow.

I would expect it to be the Band hitting up VaTech.. Everything would add up considering it's Virginia and the band basically originated there...

It would without a doubt be an unforgettable concert in every aspect..

Wow... that doesn't surprise me in the least that DMB would do this. Hopefully they'll play a free show or if they charge, charge low for the students, and give all the money to charity... that'd be a true act. But either way, kudos to DMB if they do this.

Also, IMO, just offer the show to VT students. Too many people would travel for this, I think it should be a VT only show.
