basically GA is first come first serve. Everyone will get in but the first person in gets front row (or whoever can sprint the fastest lol)

Thanks Dan. I know what the general meaning of GA is, but I'm asking specifically about HersheyPark stadium. The people in this thread seem to be very unhappy with the "new GA situation" and I was wondering if someone could explain what that means for that venue?

I've been to Hershey. Here's the deal.

If you look at the seating chart for this year, there is the front GA section and the back GA section. Last year, in what is now the front GA section, there used to be reserved seating... with GA only being in the back section. Now the only reserved seating in the bleachers along each side of the field. The view from the bleachers sucks, so the only way to get somewhat close is to get in the front GA section and for those that aren't fans of GA, it's a real bummer. Plus...... at Hershey the field is completely flat and the stage is set up pretty high off the ground. So if you're not in the front section of the GA field you won't have a good view either.

I sat in the 10th row last year. (in the reserved seating section that is now GA front field) and it was great. The year before that, I sat in the maybe 15th row of Section 8 of the bleachers... (the closest section to the stage on stage right) and it was ok.... not so bad that I complained the whole time, but nothing to be excited about either.

Hershey is probablly my least favorite venue as far as seating and acoustics, but it's so close to home that I can't NOT go.

As Jenny has put it VERY well....Hershey kinda sucks. It was originally built to be a soccer field. So when trying to envision the set up, imagine that. At a baseball stadium you at least have the chance to have a "rap around" view....but at Hershey, there are NO seats pointed toward the stage. It sucks.

Oh, and the stadium seats are bleachers. Everytime I have had seats in the bleacers and have been on the end....I end up having no seat and have to stand in the aisle becuase no one will stand close enough to the person next to them.

All in all.....Hershey isn't a great venue.

thank you all for your help - it doesn't seem to be worth the 3 hour drive each way. I have tickets for the 7/16 show at CitiField. My 18th show, can't wait!

Moving to Hershey on July 5th. Planned my move-date around this show, so I definitely cannot wait!

Well I'll welcome you to Hershey early! I live in Hershey myself. I agree the venue's not great, but it's my home venue and I look forward to it every year.
