2010 Summer Tour Opener

Hartford

With the news that DMB is taking 2011 off to "stare at the stars, and stare at our kids", fans wondered what would the 2010 Summer Tour shape up to be?

Prior to the tour, Twitter messages from Stefan Lessard left cryptic clues, but also got people wondering if this "was it" for the band. Thankfully, according to Dave Matthews, the band will reconvene in 2012. And the tour? Yeah, it's off to a pretty gnarly start.

Night 1 of Hartford, CT started off with a revelation- of John, The. JTR- a song that has not been played for 302 shows, opening the show sent shock waves through DMB fandom. Just a fluke? Hello Again, Busted Stuff, Kit Kam Jam and a new tune Break For It made sure fans knew- this ain't your ordinary opening night, kids.

DMB Takes a Year Off

ClosedAfter weeks of speculation, it has been announced by DMB’s official website that they will not be touring in 2011.

From davematthewsband.com:

"Message to our Fans:  As we feel the excitement building for this summer, we wanted to let everyone know that after twenty years of consecutive touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off. We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012."

Kudos to the DMB camp for giving us advanced notice, as many fans plan their summer around DMB’s touring schedule.  Here’s to an outstanding 2010 Summer Tour!

Smash-ups, Bootlegs, Bastard Pop, Power-Mixing, Blending, whatever you want to call it, Mash-Ups are becoming more and more popular in the music community.

For those not familiar with the term, Mash-Ups have been gaining more widespread recognition since 2001, when experimental artists began blending two or more songs from a range of musical genres to reinterpret music for an audience, but remixing has been around since music has been laid down.

It is an art that requires seamless editing to blend one song into another and deserves legitimate street credibility, even if it isn’t your cup of tea.

A Little History on "Rye Whiskey"

On April 28, Dave Matthews Band rolled out a few lines of what would soon be a full new cover song added to the song list of the Spring 2009 Tour the very next evening: "Rye Whiskey". The song has been covered by several different artists over the years, but was first recorded by and is most famously associated with Tex Ritter.
