DMB and Reverb To Provide Carpooling Service To and From Concerts

Dave Matthews Band and Reverb Carpooling ServiceGreen is the color of the 2008 Summer Tour! For the second year in a row, DMB is hooking up with Reverb to encourage fans to think of the environment while they enjoy the shows. Last year, Reverb helped DMB and their fans reduce over 3,300,000 pounds of CO2 just through the use of biodiesel fuels and carbon offsets alone. In talking about last year's efforts, Stefan Lessard said the band had two main goals, "shrink our environmental footprint as much as possible, and bring a message to our fans that we can all do something good for the environment and have fun doing it."

Fans who attended last year's shows will notice a few familiar sights again this year, such as the "eco-village", increased recycling, and the chance to offset their carbon footprint. Reverb is hoping to encourage fans even more this summer, by offering an eco-footprint reduction contest. But there's one brand new initiative this year that has fans buzzing-- carpooling!

The carpooling service is still in the beginning stages, but appears that it will be an online initiative. Reverb hopes that by encouraging fans to carpool, it will reduce traffic to and from the show, save on fuel, and reduce the carbon emissions in the air. Fans have also started to think of other benefits, including the chance to meet new friends and less drinking and driving.

Whatever the cause, DMB and Reverb knows they can count on the fans. Reverb Co-Founder and Director Laura Sullivan says, "now that we know just how environmentally committed the fans are, we're really looking forward to setting the bar even higher for 2008."
