Five months after announcing it was happening, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds took to the US Capital, Washington D.C. last Thursday (May 20, 2010) to support the Jane Goodall Institute. Dave introduced Jane Goodall at the top of the night, and continued to encourage the audience to get involved in her causes.

Davespeak: Dave's Monkey
"Ooh. There's a little curtain on here. Underneath this curtain is where I keep my monkey. Little tiny monkey. With a blue penis and bright red balls! He's my monkey."
DMB Takes a Year Off
After weeks of speculation, it has been announced by DMB’s official website that they will not be touring in 2011.
From davematthewsband.com:
"Message to our Fans: As we feel the excitement building for this summer, we wanted to let everyone know that after twenty years of consecutive touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off. We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012."

Davespeak: Calf Riding
"I once tried to ride a little tiny calf when I was a kid. I didn't last like a, like, I, it was, I was, I hit the ground faster than humanly possible. It was like, 'Heh!
Davespeak: Sweat and Stetsons
"I'm sweatin' from weird places. Like right here. May I have, have some kind of illness. Not sweatin' from the normal places. Hope I'm not coming down with something. I don't know, it could be anything here in Vegas. Could be coming down with something crazy, some funky shit. Who knows? Could be anything. I might leave with a Stetson. Fuck it."
DMB Asks You To Filter... For Good
It's a hot day, you're parked on the lawn with your friends, waiting for the show to start. You're thirsty, so you grab a sip of your water. And another. Until the bottle is empty. Now what? Gotta buy another bottle for showtime right? And toss that old one?
Earth Month may have "officially" ended come the beginning of May, but that doesn't mean conservation efforts should be tossed aside like... an old water bottle!
DMB is no stranger to environmental efforts to help "green" their tours. This tour, they want fans to join along in conserving plastic.
Davespeak: Sensible Girl, Smitten Boy
"So I had a girlfriend, anyway. Once. No, we dated for a long, long time, and I asked her to marry me three times, and she told me, 'No.' Very sensible girl, though. Anyway, so this song (I'll Back You Up) is the first song I ever wrote and this is a song I wrote about her. You can see how smitten I was by the lyrics."
Davespeak: Too Much Spam
"You know that they eat more Spam in Hawaii than in any other state. At least, at least that's what Roi said. Seven hundred million pounds of Spam. And Boyd, Boyd, what?
Buscadero Magazine Interview with Dave Matthews
Thank you to our friends at Con-Fusion in Italy for passing along the translated interview from Italy's Buscadero Magazine, who interviewed Dave Matthews while the band was playing in Milan this past Spring.
February 22nd, 2010. It's been eight months since the release of Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King and seven since the epic concert in Lucca, immortalized in the Europe 2009 boxset. The Dave Matthews Band is back to Italy, ready to pour its kaleidoscopic river of sounds on the stages of Milano, Roma and Padova.
I meet Dave Matthews before the show at the PalaSharp in Milano to talk about the latest record, the death of sax player LeRoi Moore, the renewed sinergy of the band and his variegated interests. His well-known "antistar" attitude is immediately proved: he welcomes me in his dressing room like a neighbour would and he repeats my name three times until he proudly pronounces it with the accent on the right "e". I give him a copy of February's Buscadero and he points at the cover photo laughing: "I had terrible hair that day!". I ask him if he's happy to be in Italy again and he answers with an enthusiastic "Yeah!": with no doubt it’s true. His table is covered with papers filled with song lists, sketches and drawings. His pen will trace countless scribbles throughout the interview. He adds a couple of titles to the setlist, then we start. His answers alternate overflowing streams of consciousness to long, thoughtful breaks in which he stares at the ceiling searching for the words. As background music, the sax of Jeff Coffin, who’s rehearsing in the next room.
