Boyd Tinsley Discuss Upcoming Album With Billboard
It appears as though we may have to wait until 2009 for the release of DMB's upcoming album according to a recent interview by Billboard with Boyd Tinsley.
In the interview that WDS did with Tim Reynolds not too long ago, Tim said that everything was in the early phases and that the writing process was going very well. Tinsley echoed these same words in the interview saying that the record is a long way from being done.
However, Tinsley did compare the their current work with that of the older DMB sound, saying, "It couldn't be more purely DMB than what it is."
In another recent interview with Rolling Stone, Dave mentioned that he wanted the songs to grow on their own without the assistance of the live show, which he said was two different things from the studio process. Tinsley did say in the interview that he isn't sure if any of the new songs will debut because of the state that they're in.
Some quotes from the interview:
"It might be a situation where we might take a couple of those in rehearsals and in sound checks and sort of work out arrangements to play this summer."
"Every song was written by everybody at the same time -- we've never really done that before."
"We all got together and played and got these ideas, and we'd all work through building these songs all together."
"Everybody's just really excited about it. That's why I say it sounds very much like DMB. It couldn't be more purely DMB than what it is."
"Tim just sort of expands upon things," "He's such an amazing musician. [He] adds this quality to the music that opens it up."
